Q:Has rainforest destruction slowed at all?
A:
Why destroy a rainforest anyway? Some people or companies cut the trees because the wood is valuable. Others cut the trees so they can use the land for a different purpose. The logging industry is responsible for cutting the trees and their operations damage the forests. Farmers and cattle ranchers cut the trees so they can plant crops or graze cattle. Many organizations have been created to save the rainforests, but doing so is very difficult. Reports from Brazil indicate that rainforest destruction there has slowed over the past two years. However, such destruction in Southeast Asia and in parts of Africa has continued to accelerate.
